Woooooooooooooh!

Fantastic Four 2: Rise Of The Silver Surfer - The Trailer is HERE!

Let's face it - the first FF movie was nothing to write home about. Flimsy characters, dodgy plot, lack of attention to detail (what exactly WERE Doctor Doom's powers? Did they want another Magneto?) In fact, the best bit in the whole damn film was Jessica Alba stripping down to her underwear. Which, admittedly, would be a hard act to follow in any film.

But they may just have got it right with this one. The Silver Surfer looks set to steal the show - as Johnny rightfully says.. "ohhh, that's cool!"

Thoughts?

I am actually curious about the movie, although I have yet to see the first. To be honest, Jessica Alba was the only thing drawing me to the project...

Yeah, you ain't missing much. The effects are good, of course, but the story isn't up to much. Maybe now they've got the pesky origins out of the way things will pick up.

I'd only just seen the first one a few months ago on DVD. I wasn't blown away, but I didn't come away hating the film or anything, it was just average popcorn fare, but certainly not something worthy of Marvel's First Family.

Nice trailer, but I can't help but feel that people who don't know comics all that well will just think "yawn. It's the T-1000 - and he can fly".

I'm pretty pumped for this one after seeing that. the 1st FF, for me, was alright but it could have and should have been great. Honestly, Ben Grimm's "skin" looking like rubber aside, my only real beef with the film was that Doom came off totally lame and unthreatening. But, man, seeing the Surfer on the big screen will be a thrill, and Galactus even more so (assuming he'll be there).

I would say that Doctor Doom is my favourite Marvel villain, and in my opinion is Marvel's ultimate villain, yet in the movie he came across as some lightweight goof.

I didn't know the Silver Surfer could go through things like that, though. Does that happen in the comics or is it just for the movie?

My understanding is that the Surfer can manipulate matter on a molecular level so I imagine he could pass through objects if he had a mind to, though I've never seen him use his power in that way. But then again, I don't read as many comics as I'd like to, so I'm far from being an authority on the subject.
