Reasons To Be Cheerful - May

Well, I TOLD you it was going to be a monthly thing. And why not, an excuse to name the little things in life which keep you from jumping in front of cars can only be a positive thing. So here's my three...

1. Lost is back on! I'll fully admit to being hooked on this show from very early on. I have a nagging sensation they may go up their own arse later on, but for now it's as good as ever - the numbers, the others, the mystery, the "enough flashbacks! Get back to the fucking island!!!!" And what's more, I was one of the (depressingly) few people who actually WAITED for this show to come out in the UK, instead of buying a copy from ebay or downloading it from the net.. but you know, that's another rant for another day. Cheerful.. think cheerful..

2. My Marvel Figurine Collection. Seriously, how awesome are these things? If you haven't seen them, here's the link to their site..

See the special edition Juggernaut figure? See the figures that have yet to come (Venom, Sandman, Ultron..) And they all come with an awesome magazine that tells you their complete history. This month I'll be getting The Human Torch and Black Cat as well as Juggernaut. You've got to love it.

3. HOLIDAY! I mentioned it last month, but in two weeks time your humble narrator will be out of here for fourteen days and in sunny Florida. My tickets for all the theme parks arrived a couple of days ago. I don't normally get too excited about holidays, but Hells bells - water parks. Theme parks. Rollercoasters. Child molesters in cartoon outfits - BRING. IT. ON.

There. I'm done. So - your turn. The three things that make you smile in May....

Well well well.. Superman DOES look far more impressive than I had thought it would. Looks like the same could happen with Supes as it did the 90's Batman movies, and the villain gets all the good lines while the hero is a dullard. And we'll all try and look past the knuckle-chew worthy in-jokes. "It's a bird!" Ughh.

How GOOD is Purple Rain? When I first got it I didn't listen to it THAT much, but The Beautiful Ones has grown to be my all time favourite Prince song (have you ever heard the unreleased extended version? It's all things awesome).

And as for reason three - that may well become reason number four for me. For those not in the know, Invisible Wolf gave me a Prince DVD and some Crow comic books - for nothing. Just because he's cool. I'm giving you the pattented Hasselhoff "Grin with both thumbs up" seal of approval for that. And if I could sing "Hooked On A Feeling" to you, you know I would. You'd have to do the "Hoogachagga" bit, though.

And Hulk Season One has now taken over "Food" on the Essentials lists. I have a R1 version of Return Of The Incredible Hulk, where he meets Thor, and it is utter, utter excrement. But all in the best possible way of course.

Ah yes.. Trial. Is that the one with Daredevil and Kingpin? I've been after that for a while but never managed. Be brutal - how bad is it?

They'll be included in the Seasons, surely? Well, I know the one with Thor is included in Season One. "Trial" will be on there soon enough hopefully.

15 days of school left? Till the holidays, or forever?

The Curmudgeon said...

Now, hold on - is this SCHOOL school or that weird American thing where you call College or University "School"? See, I never understand that.

Ah.. so, nervous, then? End of an era and all that. What are you planning on doing now you're into The Big Wide World(tm)?
